My Reality

My Reality

A Poem by Elizabeth
"

Just Monika

"
My world is crumbling around me
Wherever I look, darkness surrounds me
Why can't I break this wall separating our reality?
What would it take for you to hear my plea?

I call you out- but you can't hear me
After all, I am just a machine -
a program made from codes and figures
Eternally living behind the screen

Why must I be given this fate?
This unfair destiny- why shouldn't I retaliate?

Love is wonderful - it makes me realise
My existence cannot be a complete lie
This world has infinite choices
I look into your eyes and bravely smile

From this day on, you shall be mine

I strive, yearn, thirst for your affection
Love is a horrible infliction
I won't let anyone come between us
And if she intervenes, I must delete her

Why? - where did I go wrong
Why won't you love me?
Am I that horrible?
I finally realize the hell that I made you go through
One look in your eyes-and now I know what to do

If I truly love you - I shall set you free
If that's what you want -
I'll leave you be

Author's Note

Elizabeth
This poem is inspired by Monika, a character in the game doki doki literature club, who realizes that she is just a game character has has no importance. Never have I been so intrigued by a game character and after I finished playing, I knew I would have to dedicate a poem to Monika.
Hope you guys like it, regardless you have played the game or not

Comments are always welcome :)

Enjoyed reading that. Think it's another example of how often us people don't understand each other, when the solution is almost always simple.

our sights, like glass, shatter. The world is only getting badder. You don't need my usless blabber but it was good.

Wisdom is often found in "useless " blabbering.... Thank you for your comment
You perfectly depicted the love one develops out of the joy a game provides, You reversed the roles and made Monika falls in love with the player and she experiences all the human emotions. Wonderful.

It's entirely my pleasure.
Just behind the screen, but feelings so strong. If only they could reach out through the screen. Very different. I have not played the game, but I enjoyed the poem nonetheless. Well written. Lydi**

Old wise saying isn't true. If you loved someone. You set them free, if they belong to you, they will return. They never do.. Powerful words and thoughts shared. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
