A Poem by DarkFairy
"

A sonnet of something that I cherish about me

"

Cherokee

Thump, thump, thump drums are pounding

On tepees shadows are dancing

Around the fire people are prancing

Chants are heard and horns are sounding

Colorful costumes are astounding

The excitement of the celebration is advancing

Wondering eyes are glancing

A starry night is filled with carousing

Amongst the crowd I am shrouding

A shadowy figure of a tribe that's fading

Through my veins the blood is flowing

Skin and clothes are not corresponding

My pride is still showing

It laid deep inside but was worth detecting

Don't ask me why the bottom stanzas are spaced like they are. I wrote this two years back and can't remember myself

Haha, luckily i read your author's note. It occured to me that the last few verses were spaced from the rest. btw I loved the bottom stanza, "My Pride Pride was still showing." I'm glad you take so much pride and heed to your culture, our culture doesn't define who we are, but we still have to take pride in it, to the best of our ability we should love our culture.
Nice way in bringing out your culture with this nice poem :)
