His Eyes

His Eyes

A Poem by DarkFairy
"

Ever observant

"

His Eyes

His eyes watch over me from every place.

They are firm, just, and gentle, but

Never to be seen.

His eyes judge all who defy him.

They are in the ocean and air.

Those eyes lead me to the truth

And away from lies.

Those eyes are my Father's.

God's eyes.

A lot of substance in such few words.. that what poetry is all about. Excellent word play and cleverly crafted. I much enjoyed the mood and imagery in your lines.

My initial thought about this poem, is the irony, that we often associate being watched with negative feelings. In contrast, the writer of this eloquent poem suggests that she feels comforted and protected by those watchful eyes. She always seems to have an ongoing awareness, of their watchful presence.

I also noticed a link between the judgement of God and one's Father, because both of these "authority figures" can make (or be seen to make) judgements which influence so many human lives. A short poem, which expresses some thoughful observations with very few words. Pretty good writing!
