...but it wasn't the end

...but it wasn't the end

A Poem by NoPoetry

spoken word version: youtu.be/iSnwDly-UmE

"

I swallowed my fear for courage but only got sick.

I don’t want a remedy,

I want a quick fix

I see everyone getting smaller

as they chase the sun to the evening

Oh I say I like being alone

but that’s what someone in my position says

when company’s leaving

If this weakness can carry me

there must be some strength in it,

under the dirt, thick and combustible.

No bullshit,

I know what it takes;

I knew someone who swallowed their pride,

a few days later I was told that they died...
