Lonely Heroes

Lonely Heroes

A Poem by John Sabado

They don't wear capes
They avoid the gunshots
Wounds they've suffered
For the hearts of the people
They bleed and go on

No friends to help
Got nothing to hold onto
Tears of pain flood away
Streets of shame's demise
Sensational despair

Vanessa listens to light
watches in horror of time
Refrain from the fear
Hold back who you were
Once, long ago

Rest they can't afford
Rory tries to help
His pleas, ignored
Falling on deaf ears
Vanishing into the cursed wind

Nobody cares for the heroes
Dead and bleeding, no mourners
This generation looks on
They don't know who they are
Cause no one cares

Vanessa and Rory watch
Tears flow, two protagonists
Remain with your heroes
Desperate for answers
They leave

Author's Note

John Sabado
I'm a big fan of Green Day. When 21st Century Breakdown came out, I used the names of the protagonists but other than that this piece of writing has nothing to do with Green Day or their album.

Again I would appreciate any reviews and/or advices you can give me. Hope you like it. Thank you.
