Chapter 2 of 'I'm Watching Over You'

Assignment
I was in my room, my white room. If any of you get sent up to heaven, please, tell them to redecorate! I was sitting next to my pedestal looking into a deep bowl of water. When I ran my hands lightly along the surface of the glassy water, the bowl randomly chose a person for me to watch, until I got a permanent person to watch over. I was watching a little Japanese girl play in her garden until I heard my phone ring. I live in a castle… well, gods castle. His castle houses over 3,000 angels. I have no clue how he can fit them into one castle, but hey, he’s god so I guess he can do anything. Each room in his castle is like a hotel suite, you have a living room, kitchen, bathroom and a bedroom with a king sized bed. Everything in all the rooms was white, except for your colored bowl that held angel water and allowed you to watch over people. My angel bowl was a light blue color, the same color as my eyes.
I walked over to the phone and picked it up without a sound. “Yes?” I asked as I heard my angelic voice echo on the other line. “Hello darling,” god said as I listened to his soothing voice. “You have received your first assignment, come down to my room and see me.” He said, his voice happily entering my ear. “Okay!” I said happily. “I’ll be down momentarily.” I said as I carefully replaced the phone on its receiver. I carefully got up from the couch and glided effortlessly across the room to the door, my white nightdress flowing behind me. I opened it and was greeted by the white hallway lined with pictures of the different angels that lived here. I soundlessly closed my door behind me and made my way to god’s room.
When I got there, I stood in front of the floor to ceiling white and gold marble doors that loomed over me. I knocked twice softly and waited for the doors to magically open. Two seconds after I knocked, the large doors swung open and revealed, well, another white room. Seriously people… you couldn’t think of another color rather than white? It’s like I’m living in a winter wonderland. But, eventually you get used to it. I walked effortlessly into god’s throne room. I was probably the only angel allowed to sit on god’s lap. God looks like what everyone depicts him as, long silver white hair and a long white beard. He has a very calm friendly voice and friendly eyes. God is like my second dad; well he’s like a dad to everyone.
“Hello Sophia.” He said as I sat gracefully on his lap, like a young child would sit on Santa’s lap. “Hello dad.” I said as I smiled up at him. I was also the only angel allowed to call god dad, I was special that way. “Are you ready to receive your assignment?” He said as he reached over and grabbed a manila folder off of one of the large marble side tables that was next to his throne. “I’ve always been ready.” I said as I smiled. He smiled back as he took some papers out of the folder and read them. “You have been assigned to a 15 year old boy named Daniel. He lives in the town of Suluth, Maine.” God said as he looked over at me. “Suluth hmm?” I considered. “I’ve never heard of it.” I said confused as I looked up at God. “It’s a very small town.” He stated. “You will like it,” he said as he handed me the papers. “In that packet of information there is also a picture of the boy that you will be watching over.” He said as I got off of his lap to stand in front of him. “Some clothes will be sent to your room in a half an hour.” God said as he reached for a book that was resting on another side table. “You will leave after you get dressed and arrive in Suluth at 9 in the morning.” He said as he looked up at me. “He doesn’t have school today. It’s a Sunday.” He smiled as he noticed the confusion on my face. “Oh, well okay then, I guess I’ll be going.” I said as I turned and walked as my bare feet made a soft pitter patter sound on the marble floor.” “Good luck Sophia,” God said as I opened the door. “Thanks.” I said as I smiled.
As soon as I closed the door I ran down the hall toward my room. I couldn’t wait for my first assignment to finally begin.

I like how you portray heaven and God here. I'm not a religious person, but its a comforting description and very beautiful how you described it.

I really like how Sophia has a human personality that you can identify with. In most books that focus on angels, they are all-knowing and full of wisdom. Giving Sophia a human personality makes your story seem so much more realistic. I really like the line about redecorating! It made my day!
