Better AloneA Poem by everwanderIn the midst of chaos, intertwined in dark confusion and desperation. When all seems to close around and strangle, the comfort of loneliness is welcoming treasure of home.
At the edge Clinging to nothing My fingers slipping Grasping air Yielding to the wind I fall Fall to the abyss Fall to the darkness Falling swift and hard Alone…alone…alone Better to be shielded Than to be a hinder Better to be cut away Than to be drug along Pity not me For my loneliness is mine My shadow can chuckle with me Irony! Irony! How vastly you scorn Surrounded by Nothings Cold and bitter I feel So cold, it feels frozen within Whispers of escape beckon me Slowly I make it Better to be alone Than to be lost © 2009 everwanderFeatured Review
