My Dark, Fleeting SkyA Poem by everwanderBeauty can lasts from forever to seconds in a single intake of air. This is a poem that commemorates the beauty of the skies and their ever fleeting nature. Enjoy.
Everything was still My heart fluttered softly As I cast my eyes outside the window At my side, they lay oblivious To the beauty behind the glass The sky was smoky Yet there was no fire The sun was a soft glow, a lantern A beacon of soft gold light Soft wispy white swirled around it Wicked and twisted, a swirl of black entwined I found myself entranced It reflected much of this world And all of her dark mysteries and secrets The sun, a symbol of hope The white wisp, the mystery The twisted black twine, the journey we all make Something nudged by side I turned to see my cousin looking at me Startled and sleepy eyed, she had been asleep “You are crying” I was? Slowly, I moved a hand to my face Sure enough there was moisture there I laughed softly waving it off dismissively She shrugged leaning back, falling back asleep I turned back to my beautiful mystery in the sky Only to find it gone © 2009 everwander |
