Leaving

Leaving

A Poem by Dark2Light

I felt it in my heart and then I felt it crawl down my spine

Sink into my legs and into my feet as I began to move

I wish I would have worn another dress

Because the mental image is such a mess

Nothing like a movie scene

Not like what they do on screen

I wish I had said something sweet

But all I did was slowly retreat
Had I known it would be the last time I saw you

There are a million other things I would do.

I left a lipstick stain on a cigarette

Propped against the front step

Half burnt and half used.
