Normally, I would break this down piece by piece. But in fear of giving anything away, I'm going to go at this "raw" and see if I can take a crack at it.
My guess is Inspiration. I would have guessed Light or Energy, but I'm not sure how smelling that would go. Not to say someone wouldn't find a way. I wouldn't put it past human nature to.
But I go with inspiration because of the aspect of smell. The inscriptions in each shining star.
Batman as an idea inspires many. Smell links back to memory, but can also take us places. Inspiration, although induced in an awful manner without consent, could be in candy, I suppose.
I'm sure I'm way off the mark on this one. A part of me has to wonder if there is an actual answer, being left up to the reader. Either way, this made me scratch my head a bit and think. Seems to be a common theme as of late.
Whatever the answer, this was a fun question to entertain

Dear Aura, I have come back several times over the last few days to reread and I guess to cheat by looking at all the reviews your other readers have left for further clues. I have never been good at puzzles, particularly cryptic ones. Your fine words in your six stanzas have me stumped. The closest I got was thinking this was about the Grim Reaper and Death, but then not all the clues pointed in that direction. I reckon I am going to be one of your readers who send you a pm to solve the mystery:)

I definitely like where your head's at, the Grim Reaper is definitely a scary figure, and a popular symbol of death, come knocking at one's door. Would you like a pm to know the answer to the mystery?

Oh yes please Aura. Would love the mystery to be solved :))

It is sent! I'm sure you'd be surprised to know what the answer is :)
Digging robbers find you.
the dark knight deals you.
Decadent chocolate eats you.
Stars fall in you,
creating life
which eventually meets you.
The starving artist paints you
while poets write you ~
promised, is not a threat.
You live in stories
told 'round glowing fires.
We will meet inevitably,
yet, will never know you.
Knowing you are coming for me,

Bill read your poem at least 50 times. I think I heatd him reciting it over and over, here deep in his mind. I finally got some thought space to write this. It was a pleasure to see him suffer and share this clue with you.
Perhaps it is death...a long awaited tragedy whose smell suppresses appetite, stars die, death doesn't always leave outward signs, heroes become heroes after their brave and noble deaths, everyone has met with death is some form or another, a pet, a friend, a relative, the evening news. People can die from too much sugar via diabetes or other health related issues, fat etc. Death has inspired more poetry and art than even love. Poe, Lord Byron and Shelley come to mind or The Last Judgement painted by Michelangelo. Death is often the subject of folktales and ghost stories and it's a sweet release to those suffering. Also people are "buried" after they die. The "glowing" part I'm unsure of but my guess is death.

The Taj Mahal is actually a tomb or mausoleum built in memorial to Mumtaz Mahal, wife of the Shah Jahan. The Shah is buried there too. The Lincoln memorial, a tribute to Lincoln after his death. Sonnets, poems and books have been written as tributes as well. The English poet John Donne wrote, Death, Be Not Proud. Love is a very popular theme in the arts but I believe death is even more so.
A mystery no longer remains a mystery once that mysterious element that emanates such mystery is revealed, spoken, shared, or told ...
If I were to venture a guess, I would begin with that of our inner selves, proceed to appreciation of Nature, The Cosmos, & all Creation, and wind up all of this with wonderment of some possible Creative Source of all that we see and do ponder as that which I term as an Ultimate It, A Creator of all that is and will ever be, totally beyond and outside the teachings of Organized Religion, that does operate and serve as An Extant Catalyst Reactant Ultimate Source Point Origin Of All Existence ... But, of course as such is but a wild guess and shot in the dark of attempting to read and guess your personal muse's inspiration of heart and mind ...
By the way ... I loved this beautifully written poem of yours ...

I think a mystery can still remain a mystery even if its spoken, like in this poem although I give clues, its still a mystery if you haven't gotten the correct answer! Though I understand, that a mystery is no longer a mystery when its revealed or when someone cracks the puzzle. The Cosmos is a unique guess! it does cover near and far, the galaxy is one of fine art, its such a beautiful sight! Although, not the answer I was aiming for, I definitely love your interpretation and guess, so unique!
Oh my goodness Aura a challenge within a poem... How very interesting!!
Let's see... what could it be????
A superhero like Batman …
without any outspoken fans.
I think this line tells us a lot...
So someone special but with not many fans...
can be inside special treats,
so be careful of what you eat.
oh gosh, inside special treats... reminds me of Halloween....
and then you write
Eventually we would have met …
though, this is not a jarring threat.
Makes me think of God, but I do not think this is what you meant...
Perhaps it isn't a person... perhaps it is HOPE...ah well, or WISH...
oh well, I do not know...but this is so clever!!
Let me know, okay...

You have so much of interesting ideas of what the mystery concept is! I can safely say that it is not a person but a concept. You are so close with your interpretation of the line : Eventually we would have met …
though, this is not a jarring threat" Although it is not God, it's certainly close! Hope or Wish, lovely guesses. Hope covers near and far, hope has glowed throughout history! Although those were not the right guesses, I certainly loved how you took apart this piece and tried to Crack this puzzle! Thanks so much for reading, I truly appreciate it
On a side note: Would you like me to send you a email of what the answer is as you told me to let you know?
I think your piece is very interesting for the fact that a writer and a reader are often at odds over what is meant by what is written. In a very real sense every poem is a puzzle. I do narrative ( at least to me) works in clay and am often amused and confused by what others see or fail to see. A variety of things come to mind as the answer yet I can't fit one of them into all the clues, so I will guess something abstract ( chance )

I totally agree with you as poetry can mean different things to different people. What I interpret a piece of writing to be, will definitely be different from someone else's interpretation. I like your guess, chance... something so abstract, what made you think of it? I'd love to hear your interpretation :)
I love the story, truly amazing, yet I've wracked my brain to figure out the mystery...nevertheless, this is a well written piece constructed so brilliantly as to mesmerize the reader...and I read it at least 5 times...could it be Van Gough? only thing is the tasting part, but maybe the flowers????

We do try. Dear Aura.
"I can choose to joyfully write
or, paint a remarkable sight.
To sketch or type takes a strong heart.
Yet, my work is one of fine art."
I loved the above lines and our writing. We hope someone will enjoy. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you so much for reading, I am glad you liked it!
A brain teaser of a write
Cleverly and beautifully executed in the aa bb form. Like a lullaby
Each stanza gives a piece of the puzzle, but totally changes the direction .
So I guess I'll say time is what you allude to, or a memory?
