O FatherA Poem by Darius ChinoyThis was written for my father in 2001.When I was young I idolized him When I was a teen I hated him And now that I am a man I want to be like him Years ago you waited anxiously For my first yawn When I came into your arms You held me graciously I feel privileged to be your first-born You honor me by giving me your name I promise to carry on your legacy like an immortal flame You named me after royalty And showed me your loyalty You always make me feel what I am capable of When I need some one real bad I have to just call up Dad O Father For you I will go farther I understand now the love you have for me each day I am grateful to you in every way Love your only son Darius © 2014 Darius ChinoyReviews
