The Ode To Obama

The Ode To Obama

A Poem by Terrell A. Pullen

For so long we have waited
Almost loosing hope of will we make it
Felt good that joyful night it was stated
The inside of the white house is black
Bet some of these other colors hate it

This country was built by us
Brought to life by our blood and deeds
For years we never got the credit
But now...
It's one of us who leads

This is the start of change
Gotta give God the praise
I bet willie lynch is seeing this
Turning over in his grave

Today there is a new track on this underground railroad
A dream has been saved
The inside of my white house will be black for four years
Now history has been made

We shout with joy and cheer
Anything can be done
God has smiled down on us "N*****s"
Well...that's what you called us
Now our victory has been won

We are on the verge of a brand new world. And while I had my doubts all through the campaign, I am certain, I am sure, that Obama will do magnificent things. Great poem.

Hm, very interesting. While I am happy to see that a black man was elected to the office of the President of the United States, I am worried. The simple fact that he is black will be his undoing. Not by racists rednecks from the South or 'old-school' rich white guys but from everyone. In my opinion, everything he does as President will be weighted. Anything that the white folks don't like, they will label Obama as being racist. And anything that the black folks don't like, they will label Obama as being a 'traitor to the black race'. Nevermind the fact that the media will so over-play his race that anything he does manage to do will be drowned out.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am not racist and I do not intend to come off as such. If I do, I apologize.

Now, onto the actual poem. I like it. It reveals how you feel. Very good job.
