A Poem by Terrell A. Pullen

Day feeling bad
Down on my luck
The door is wide open
Still I feel stuck.

Trapped in your world
Your rules
Your hopes and your dreams
Just like I died and went to hell
That's how this reality seems

But still my mind
My body
My heart
My soul all scream

There's got to be more to this mess
More than what you bring
Over years you've taken from this man
You've taken what you have gave at first
The choice to work the well
Or say forget it and die of thirst

Don't reward my rights
Never forget my wrongs
You got the same devil in you
Yet you're still throwing stones

Can't go left anymore
And my mind won't go right
There's a battle between sane or not
And...
I've lost that fight

So now the question is
Have I met my fate?
The answer is there
Vivid as ever,
But still right in my face

Looking at you
I wonder how long do I have to put up this fight
I try to run but can't
Why?
Cause we're looking alike
