A Mother's Punishment

A Mother's Punishment

A Poem by Darien Don

Peace
Can I finally have peace
Human life has reached its end
so now I just want peace
I am in constant pain
and through that pain I endured
I have been ripped apart by my children
I have been bled dry by my children
I have given them everything
Without me
There is no chance of survival
I am very tired
The pain
It's too much to bare
What if I were to no longer give
What if I rose up against you
My children
What would you do
Shall we see
My mountains will rise and crush the life I have given you
The seas will swallow up the land once again
My plant-life with devour the cities you call great
Your older brothers and sisters will attack you ruthlessly
I am not a kind mother
Not to you
Not anymore
Humans
My youngest children
You will perish
I will be the one to bring upon your end

This is so powerful. The sense of betrayal felt by Mother Earth is very much valid. We have all let her down. Thanks for sharing :)
