Youth's Promise

Youth's Promise

A Poem by Kristen Darian Marie Wiley
"

What I felt about my youth passing

"
Unprepared and unrehearsed,
it is the intake of breath,
the sound before sound,
the spark of creation,
the tuning of taut strings.

In the space silence makes,
gently amoug waiting dark,
tension and vibration pitch,
its the birth still yet to be,
it is my life in the wings.

Before the music plays,
Before the dancer steps,
Before the actor speaks,
Before the conductor strikes,
the anticipation of a dream.

I am the feeling in the air,
the key before its struck,
the cue that has been sent,
a whole lifetime's worth,
of passion in a bottle.

Existence is unknowable,
faith so very far away,
certainty always uncertain,
I am a dancer poised mid-step,
forever waiting for my lead.
