The Dating Game

A Poem by Kristen Darian Marie Wiley
"

Relationship Frustration!

"
In the end it's wanting, isn't it?
In the end it's my same old mistake.
In the end, I think someday,
I may not want it to end.

We met and re-met again,
through the use of friends.
I never knew it was like THAT.
He never said it was like THAT.
I got the feeling it was like THAT,
When he first touched my hand.

He was warned you want no part of me.
I was warned he sought out broken women.
We were both warned, but neither listened.
It turns out warnings aren't worth what they used to be.

He was shy and treated me like glass,
and I was scared.
He was an old fashioned man,
and I didn't want to trust it.
I gave him every reason to leave,
and he pushed on.
I told him I'm not what he thinks,
and he laughed.
A wave against the cliffs,
He will break himself on me.

We walked until we ran out of purpose.
We talked until we ran out of words.
In the end it left just our wanting.
In the end all was quiet, save for breath.
A mistake, but still undecided if this is really the end.
