My Cat, The Messenger

My Cat, The Messenger

A Poem by Kristen Darian Marie Wiley
"

Don't look now but its a cat poem!

"

From across the room I am alerted,
there is a noise from without!
Through the glass there are...
only the night and two brights eyes.

Liquid amber lights of longing or...
Curiosity?

I open the door and wanders in,
from the the night...a piece of it,
though without the shining stars.

With movement of water running.
from deep to shallow,
the piece of night sky trickles in.

He pays no mind to me,
amber does not hold my reflection.
Simply seeks the warmth of
my couches and blankets.

There he pools and sleeps.
I approach quietly, kneel low...
I lay hand to delicate body,
only to return a gentle mewing.

So small...
So gentle a beast...
With so human eyes...
makes me pause.
