Nervous

Nervous

A Poem by Aleena

That dip in the stomach when the ride is speeding downward,
Knowing that at this speed, you can't fall-
Yet you scream with excitement at the looming,
Repeating the words you said gives the same feeling,
Nervous as you've been reshaped by that one emotion.

We look at each other,
have secret smiles for each other,
Definitely like each other.
But then share that same smile with one of your dudes.
The colour green and the mess of your brown hair
Makes me want to stay on the ride, chasing the exhilaration,
Full of always small gestures
Knowing that there's something at the top
The landscape clear and endless, then the inevitable drop.

Somehow catches me off guard,
Leaving me bending without breath.
I still seek it out at every place,
But the thing is that we've done it so many times before.
Now when we meet each other,
The rush makes me shiver-
Fun for the first few times,
Now just a crime against my own heart.

I hope that this ride let's get me through
Once I'm sick,
It will be out of my system like a flick.
