The Sounds

The Sounds

A Poem by Darali May

BANG BANG
the sound of your fist connecting with the door.
SCREECH
the sound I made when the door gave in, once and for all.
SHHH! SHHH!
the sound of you calming the one you claimed to adore.
NO!
the sound I made when my back hit the wall.

SHUFFLE
that's you dragging your feet, invading my space.
PANT PANT
that's your heavy breathing, you tried so hard.
DRIP DRIP
that's the salty water falling down my face.
PLEASE!
that's me pleading, wishing for a bodyguard.
