Sudden RainA Poem by David DarabianTo the parents of the young victims in the many pointless wars around the globe
When on a warm Summer's day there is sudden rain,
I think of all the grief, of all the pain And my eyes water I taught you how to read and how to write When to run and when to fight You made me proud, you made me mad I made you happy and sometimes sad I was your father When thunder rumble I think of your last days Scared and trapped in a unknown maze And my eyes water You were drafted but a boy No more smiling, no more joy Act fast, they said, don't think Gook, Jap, Kraut or Chink! I was your father What have I now but countless tears The aching heart that no longer cares For my life was lost too It was lost when we lost you © 2019 David DarabianFeatured Review
