Invisible

Invisible

A Poem by Darian Justine

Sometimes I wonder just what it would take

to get you to look at me like you look at her

I don't think I'll ever be good enough for you

and so I'm always left to wonder

Every time you smile my heart skips a beat

and my face turns bright red

but the second you get near my tongue ties in knots

and you walk away leaving things left unsaid

Sometimes I want to ask you

exactly what you see

but I'm afraid that everything you see in her

won't be what you see in me

You'll tell me that she's beautiful

and she's the reason for your smile

I want to tell you that she never sees it

and its been that way all the while

I'm scared to put it all out there

for fear you don't feel the same

I want to stop the butterflies that fill my stomach

From just the simple sound of hearing your name

I'm sick and tired of being left in the cold

I hate wondering but I don't want to know

I'm sick of holding on when there's nothing to hold on to

but it would kill me to let go

So when you read this, maybe you'll answer

and maybe then you can tell me what you see

every time you look at her

are you really seeing me?

Am I somewhere in your heart

even if it is deep down inside

is that smile lighting your face for me

the one you always try to hide?

I'd love to think all of that is true

but for me it is unimaginable

but a girl can dream and hope

that maybe she isn't that invisible
