The Cave

We tied two ropes to one tree and our guide (Carla) started to spelunk down the hill throwing the ropes farther and farther down the cave.  Next was Mrs. McB after taking a picture fo Carla.  I was after Tati and I went with Patrick, Mrs. McB was a few feet away from the entrance.  I started going down after I realized I was going down a very rocky, steep, slippery hill.  I went through a small hole hearing Mrs. McB echo saying “slide on your butt!”  I caught up to some other kids and we shined our flashlights at the inside of the cave.  We saw tiny stalactites with drops of water on the tips of them on the top of the cave.

When everybody was in the cave we started to slide down to the biggest room then to a smaller room.  It had a tiny hole with a big flat rover over it and it kind of cured as we sent inside.  We all huddled in a circle and Carla told us to wander around in the deepest room.  She told us about a tangerine can, it’s a hole you can crawl in and out of that also has water layering the floor inside it too.  She told us about good hiding spots for bats, (we saw five) stumps that you can shine light on and it’ll act like a lamp.  Everybody was drooling to be let out wandering.  We stared at her until spoke “GO!”  Everybody scattered different ways.  I started to go toward the bats, I found four.  They were about a big grape.  I went through a tangerine can, it was really wet and slippery.  When I slipped out, Mrs. McB quickly flashed her camera at us!

I looked at the stumps that actually looked like rock lumps in the ground that glowed when light shines on it.  At that moment Carla called us back in the circle.  We all got to share our most exciting stories.  The most exciting part was the end.  Carla crawled around our circle and handed out hard mint life savers.  We turned off all our flashlights and chomped down on them!  We didn’t expect but they glowed.  It looked like a lifesaver getting cracked into tiny pieces and disappearing (I guess that was my favorite part).

We started to move back to the entrance we kept glancing at the small memories that passed by.  I watched as the light in the tunnels got brighter and brighter.  Finally! I saw the entrance!  It burned my eyes!  One by one we spelunked back up the rocks.
