Why Can't She See?

Why Can't She See?

A Poem by Summer Blue

A beautiful woman who I looked up to,
Maybe she would have never given up,
If she could have seen,
She is all I wanted to be...

The hugs and the kisses,
Late night movies and tea,
Short walks and little talks,
Is all that she gave to me...
In my heart that was all I would ever need,
She was perfect in my mind,
All I wanted her to be...

Now I can see,
She lost herself many years ago...
This beautiful woman,
With so much love to give,
No longer gives love to herself...
She doesn't see,
If she continues this path,
She will never be free...

Those around her want her this way,
Knowing they will always need...
For they want her to give them everything she has,
Without her how will they succeed?...

When she can no longer give,
They hold a bottle of pills to her mouth...
They see this is her weakness,
Ignore that its her death,
Forgetting if not for her they would never be...
So if they help in losing her,
They will surely never be free...

No one deeply cares for her,
This I can clearly see,
So I sit on the side lines,
Listen to the rumors of myself,
Knowing this is what needs to be,
If I truly want to help...
I know that I can feel at peace,
Knowing it is me,
Who doesn't want to contribute to my Aunts life of grief...

Author's Note

Summer Blue
I wrote this July 20, 2010. I was sitting here thinking about my Aunt who I love with all of my heart. I am so hoping she will see that the reason I stay away is because I love her and don't want to see her hurt herself and allow others who are suppose to love her contribute to her hurt.

Some of our problems seem insoluble and that
may explain our belief system. We have found
throughout our lives that we are simply incapable
of solving many problems , so
pray for her. If I am not intruding I will add my
simple request, asking that your sweet Aunt be
cured of her affliction and relieved of the pests
who hurt her by their administrations.
This is very well written, sad but beautiful .

You wrote of a special woman. Sometime the person need someone to care and be kind. Sometime we must create problems so the woman have reason to be strong and happy again. Opposite sociology does work. The poem tell a sad story. Strong people can fall. Need someone to take them a short walk and have great conversations. A very good poem. Thank you.
