She See's What You See

She See's What You See

A Poem by Summer Blue

So new to this big world you have been thrown into,

That it almost appears as if you’re clueless

To those who do not know you....

They see this girl,

Very impressionable, vulnerable, and helpless...

Passing it off as ditsyness,

With a confused look on their face wondering,

Could it really be or is she acting as if....

They are afraid to ask about their thoughts,

Knowing that the answer is right in front of them,

They would feel just as they believe she is, if proven wrong...

It is almost as if they see what I see,

Too frightened to admit,

This young girl knows a little more about life,

Than those around her that have been here far longer...

They see her beauty, as do I,

But cannot see past it as I do...

Her beauty she uses to control your every move...

Her silence is not her being helpless or clueless,

It is observance...

Her ditsyness is not stupidity or confusion,

But a game she is playing with your mind,

To protect hers from hurt...

She sees what you see...

Waiting for you too let her know you see past the wall...

Wanting to hear that what is on the other side is beautiful and pure,

Trusted and loved,

And appreciated for who she has become....

Author's Note

Summer Blue
This was written about a year and a half ago. My daughter who was then 16 was moved from one state to another and then not only felt out of place where she lived but also felt like the world was against her... She felt like her family members were the first to betray her.
