Mommy, I'm Smart, huh?

"Mommy, I'm smart, huh"?
Is always a question you ask at least once,
Throughout the day...

We always know the answer to that question is yes,
Because it is the truth...

But it still continues to stump me why you ask so often,
Making me wonder if somehow you don't believe it,
Or if you like to hear it over and over again because,
It makes you proud...

I am really hoping it is because you are truly proud,
And that you know I am too,
As long as you know that one thing you ask once a day is true,
You will forever know that the many things I say each day are true as well...

You will never have to doubt how beautiful you are,
You will continue to hold your head up high,
And wish upon every star,
Knowing your dreams really can come true,
Because mommy told you that every day,
As a gift, a secret to life, you could always carry with you...

This one was written for my youngest daughter who was 4 when I wrote it. Everyday she asked me that question...it really made me wonder why.
