ParentsA Poem by DaphneeGosh I love them
My parents love me, I know they do
They beg me to talk, to confide What do I say? How do I confess? Their little one is lost The one who'd play in the sand The one who wanted to be a mermaid The one who believed in everything The one who had hope I'm not the little girl they raised me to be They expect greatness and brilliance How do I tell them? What can I do? Their daughter is in the dark Fighting for the light, struggling to be free An unspoken tension, maybe they do know Still, they love me Still, they try My parents love me, I know they do And I will always love them too © 2017 Daphnee |
