5 Little Orphans

5 Little Orphans

A Poem by Danielle Khairallah

I walk around campus every day
It's only natural that I do it this way
But as I walk I bump into young creatures
Seemingly parent-less and hungry

1 little kitten, of pure black fur
1 little kitten, of tiger-like texture
1 little kitten, of snow-white fur
1 little kitten, of gray and green mixture
1 little kitten, of tabby-like figure

5 little kittens are in front of my dorms
Playing, rolling around in the dirt
5 little kittens are surrounding me
Each fighting for a turn on my lap !

Ichi, the strongest of them all, has flashy green eyes and so much affection
Twist, the calmest of them all, quietly waits for his turn to come
A shy little kitten comes very slowly towards me and attempts a turn as well
A hyper little kitten jumps excitedly over my shoulders and hides in my hair

5 little orphan kittens suddenly made me their mom
5 little orphan kittens became my special little friends
Taking care of them becomes my favorite pass-time
Loving and cuddling them becomes my most affectionate action

5 little orphans...reside in front my dorms
They are no longer orphans ! They are a big feline family !

I like the poem. Kittens can steal our hearts and we will adopt them. A excellent poem. Thank you.
