Night

Night

A Poem by Danielle Khairallah
"

It's sometimes how i spend my nights.

"

Please No CSS

I can feel the darkness creeping
Slowly up my bed every night
I can hear the silence coming
I try in vain to move and fight

It takes over my body and eyes
I can see nothing but black
And the light, far away it flies
To the dark I try to turn my back…impossible!

It’s everywhere I turn, following me closely
Imprisoning me in its cage of emptiness
Hitting me with images of death and fear
Enchained, I can only watch, my eyes flowing with tears!

Fear…it overcomes me
Darkness…violently binds me!
Tied to my bed I cannot sleep
Too scared to shut my eyes
By fear that “it” will get me

Time is going by slowly, and I wait helplessly for the end
Hours have passed, and finally I see a spot of light!
I painfully reach out for the sun as it rises...
Darkness fades away at last!

Morning has come, and night has gone
Another dark, sleepless night, ended by the dawn
I get up once more, hoping for today to be long…

I found that a night light works very well in such situations. Nice poem, did not like the rhyming in the second stana btw.
