-STOP YELLING AT ME!
-How dare you raise your voice at…
-NO! YOU LISTEN FOR ONCE! He stood aghast, amazed to see her standing up to him, for the first time.
-You never listen to me. Now you listen! I will take no more of this accusing! I’m not lazy! I’m not over-confident, I’m not “living in dreams”, and I’m certainly not letting go of my studies the way you say I am! He sat down and stared at her in confusion. Wasn’t she afraid anymore?!
-And who are you to tell me all this?! Have you forgotten yourself? Have you forgotten how you failed tenth grade, went to another school, failed senior year three times and failed a year of college?! Astonished, he looked as though he was about to ask her how she knew all this.
-Yes, I know. I asked, you see, to know why you’re so keen on following me around throughout my academic life so aggressively! You’re worried I’m going to repeat your mistakes, aren’t you! Well you’re wrong. I haven’t failed a single class, thanks! And the only course I failed was failed by everyone else as well! How can you compare me to yourself?! No answer. There was nothing he could say about all this, and for the first time ever, he was speechless.
-All these “speculations” you had about me! All these attempts to stop me from doing my activities by fear that I will fail like you did! You destroyed my passion because of your fears! Could you have done this?! I truly doubt it. And the passion you destroyed, I rebuilt, and I am now teaching it. I got my black belt, dad, and you’re still fighting me to stop practicing my favorite sport. Everything that has to do with taekwondo, you’re still blocking it. Well you know what?! I’m nineteen now, and you can’t stop me anymore! He gazed at his daughter in remorse. He couldn’t find the words to answer her anger, and he couldn’t scare her with his loud, aggressive voice and furious eyes.
-Just let me go, dad. I need my freedom. I love you, and I know you love me. But you have to stop crushing me like that with your fears! Stop before you lose me. That’s all I have to say. She turned away without another word, and went out of the room, leaving her father alone to his thoughts. Just as she left the room, her eyes filled with tears. She stood up to him, but she was still unhappy. She realized that she had just told her father to get out of her life…
