I-The Ghost

A Chapter by Danielle Khairallah
"

Only she could see him...

"
Lea had been training all morning with master Keilen. She quickly ran between the obstacles and hit the fake enemy with her staff. The staff was smashed into two pieces and Lea found herself at the master's feet.
-You still have a lot of training to do Lea.
Master Keilen calmly stared at his student. After a thought, he told Lea to follow him.
-You must understand that the power of the strike you give is not the essential in a battle.
-But how am I supposed to win if I
- Your inner strength! A true warrior does not just attack with weapons. It is the strength you have inside that must guide you to victory.
-I don't understand how my "inside" is going to win a battle!
-You will understand in time. Now go meditate for a while, and concentrate this time.
Lea was now sitting on a small red carpet, outside the temple. Around her were trees and humming birds, an ideal natural place that could help her concentrate. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Suddenly the wind started blowing strongly. Lea didn't move. Leaves were falling all around her and the wind was lifting them higher as she did her best not to lose her concentration. The birds stopped singing, and the wind was now blowing very hard into Lea's face. She attempted to make one last effort of concentration but ended up opening her eyes.
A young man wearing war clothes was standing right in front of herhe was gazing at her. She got up angrily and looked at him with threatening eyes.
-Who are you?
Amazed, the young man looked behind him.
-What's the matter with you?
-You can see me?!
-Oh great! You must be mad.
-No, I'm not mad!
Lea had already turned, walking away.
-I'm a ghost.
At these words, Lea stopped dead.
-A ghost! April fool's day is in three months you know!
-I'll prove it. Come closer and hold my hand.
She slowly approached him, with some hesitation nevertheless. But for some reason, she was starting to believe him, and she didn't know why. When she was about to touch the "ghost's" hand, Lea felt a shiver go through her bodyher hand went right through the man's hand! Frightened, she silently stared at him.
-Do you believe me now?
-YesMy name is Lea.
-And I'm Ray. I wonder why you're the only one who can see me.
-I have no idea. But what are you doing here?
-I grew up here. Master Keilen taught me everything I know.
-You knew master Kelien! This means you grew up in the Secret Valley. But how come I don't know you?
-The master always said I'm a part of the night. All my trainings were nocturnal, so I never knew anyone at the temple.
-Well apparently I'm "part of the nature". At least, that's what he always tells me.
-Trust him. If only I had understood that I wasn't ready to leave the valley two years ago, I wouldn't be dead right now. Though he warned me
