You Evocatively Promised Me Heaven

You Evocatively Promised Me Heaven

A Poem by Danomaly1983

You evocatively promised me Heaven
But left me at the gate
You provocatively left me unfinished
And filled me up with hate

Sweet were your smile and demeanor
Calm was your warming touch
Your action could not have been meaner
The tease was just too much

I stood in the darkness, crying
So close and then denied
Your laughter, an echo of triumph
You chose to not be mine

You evocatively promised me Heaven
But left in the dead of night
As I see your disappearing
I think you did it out of spite
