CHAPTER 1

For the world and the next this is a reminder that we did exists. But at one time there were only vampires, these things that have our faces and might have our memories. Hi my name is Scarlet Rose Johnson and this is my story. It was so dark out when the big explosion went off they say you could see it for miles and miles, but in my little house all we felt was a small jolt. It was June 2, 2001 the time where it’s almost cool but slightly warm at the same time. It is now the anniversary of the explosion that killed thousands but brought them back as something totally different. Now it’s almost been a year that I lost everything and in three days I will be 18 and be sent out in this world that is so new to me to tell you the truth I’m scared to death.

Hi it’s me again and today is the day I go out in the world and any second now I will walk through the big metal doors and start my life. UHHHHH BREATHE Scarlet breathe YOU CAN DO IT, I walk to the door and when they opened its so bright almost too bright it hurts. CHILD it was my friend the cook “now whatever you do stay in side when it gets dark, you remember the stories I told you about?”

“Yes I do and I also remember how you taught me to fight.”

“Good child now those stories will help you survive out there, good luck child I love you.”

“I love you too”, I said as I hugged her for the last time.

CHAPTER 2

As I walk down the road and in to the city there is no one there and if so they are hiding for they are the crèche’s of my nightmares, the last store is a dinner and right by it is a grocery store. I walk in and hear a TV on upstairs and when I round that last step I see a small child siting and eating a sugar roll. I walk to the child and sat by him.

“HI my name is Scarlet what is yours?”

Then the kid looks up and just smiles at me, “my name is Peter do you want some? No thanks I had a big breakfast,”

“Peter who are you talking to?”

“Scarlet!” About five seconds later this boy walks in with a knife in his hand.

”WHO ARE YOU AND GET AWAY FROM MY BROTHER NOW.”

“My name is Scarlet and I would never hurt him, he is too cute.”

“Fine then you won’t mind coming with me.” So I followed him in to the kitchen an as soon as I took my last step in there he turned and just looked at me with this look in his eyes that he was happy so happy to see me.” WHAT? You just don’t know how happy I am glad to see another human, we have been hiding out.” We stared at each other for the longest time, until he broke the weird moment.” If you want you can stay with us.” Then he walked out of the kitchen and I followed him up the stairs and to the left, “this will be your room.” When I walked in the rooms the first thing I noticed was that the windows were bored up with big nails in the window frame. The bed was not much but a small queen size bed with two pillows’ and one old looking blanket, that was red and yellow and blue it was so cozies. When I went to turn around to thank the strange boy he was gone. I sat my things down on the bed and walked back down the stairs to where the small boy was now dressed in STARE WARS P.Js he looked much cuter like a small puppy all curled up on the couch. But he was not alone the strange boy was sitting with him and just staring at a blank TV I could guess by the way the boy looked all tense and so aware of every little sound that it was night and the things were out looking and waiting for the chance to get inside and kill all three of us.

“THERE IS SOME FOOD IN THE FRIDGE IF YOU ARE HUNGRY BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO EAT IT COLD.”

“NO THANKS IM NOT HUNGRY IM JUST GOING TO GO TO BED SO I CAN GET A FRESH START ON TOMORROW.”

CHAPTER 3

“ OK AND BY THE WAY MY NAME IS ADAM AND THIS HERE IS PETER I FOUND HIM IN THE ALLY THEY WERE TRYING TO KILL HIM, SWEET DREAMS” he called from the living room. I just walked up the stairs I could hear him laughing at the mean joke he had made. It was about an hour when there was a knock on the door. “Can I come in” said a small voice as the small Peter walked in my room. “Shore” the small child climbed on the bed and sat there like he wanted to say something but was too shy to ask. “Do you want to lay down with me?” All he did is shake his head yes then crawled in under the covers. “I had a nightmare; do you want to talk about it? Not really it was just of this boy coming up behind me when I’m backed up and those things are about to eat me, but I don’t get to see what happens next because I wake up. Well that is horrible but I’ll let you in on a secret no one is going to hurt you especially as long as you are with me, because I know how to kill those things.” “WHOWWW” is all he said then he snuggled closer and fell asleep, shortly after me to fell asleep.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, I woke up to the loudest sound ever then I could see the smoke. I jumped up out of bed and ran down the stairs to wear the smoke was coming from. When I ran in the kitchen I could see Adam trying to put out a fire. I ran to the other side of the kitchen I spotted a fire extinguisher and lifted up the leach on it and pushed Adam out of the way as I put the fire out. I sat it down then walked to the living room and sat next to Peter. “Dose this always happens? YES! What are you eating? Cheerios with lots of sugar” For a small kid he shore is smart, so I walked back to the fire pit and got me some cheerios to. When I went in the kitchen Adam was standing their just looking at me. “What? Um thanks for helping me and if you are looking for milk we don’t have any more.” Oh then I’ll just go and get some then” and walked to my room. I put on my favorite H.I.M tee and black pants and brushed my hair, I want to put on my boots, when I noticed I had left them by the fount door. So I grabbed them and put my blade inside. It was like my security blanket except it was much sharper. And walked out the door and headed to the store right next door. When I opened the front door I could since something or someone watching me so I acted like I had no idea. I to the back of the store and grabbed one red milk and one blue milk for I did not know which one the boys preferred.

I knew what I had to do tonight, as I walked back out the store and back to the house if you even want to call it that. I could fill that the thing in the shadows watching me, now I have been told that some of them can read minds and if that is so then this one beater get ready because by tonight it will be facing its worst nightmare ME. When I walked in the living room I knew that something was not right I dropped the milk and started to run from room to room looking and not finding Adam or Peter. By the time I got to the last door I was in full panic mood, when I opened the door I was so relieved to see both of them crashed and sleeping so I just gently closed the door and got me some food. It was around lunch time and I had just finished cleaning the house when I went in the kitchen when both the sleeping bodies came in and started to go through the fridge like a pack of animals’. I just stud their till I looked at what Peter was getting ready to eat and that is when I took the bole of sugar away from him.

Chapter4

“Hay give that back now”

“NO you don’t need to be eating this, it’s bad for you and Adam you put your food down too and both of you go in the living room while I make us all food and so I can start on supper. Now go.

And I pointed to the living room as they both did not argue with me but just put their heads down and went in the living room to go play video games. I looked through every cabinet and found all kinds of cans so I made us all tuna fish for lunch. While the boys ate and played their games I went up to my room and started to get out all my swords and knives. It was about three hours later that Adam came in my room and just sat on the bed playing with a small army knife my mom had given me on my fifth birth-day.

“I have needed to talk to you.”

“OK”

“Well before you came along I had decided to take Peter and go north right before everyone turned hear they were talking about a place up north wear those things can’t get in and we can be safe.”

“When are you planning to go?”

“Around summer time and that is only in two months.

“Shore I’ll go with you and I’m going out tonight so don’t get worried.”

“What didn’t anyone tell you are supposed to stay inside did anyone ever tell you that?”

“Yes but I have something I have to do and I don’t care as soon as the sun starts to go down I’m going out and I’ll be back in time to get you both breakfast.”

“FINE!”

CHAPTER 5

And with that we both went down stairs and I started to make spaghetti and meatballs. After I ate I went up to my room and put on skinny black pants with a purple shirt with Bam on it. I slid my two Minnie swords and knives in my boots and walked down the stairs. As I got to the door I was hit by a small child and I looked down to see Peter back in his pj’s.

“Please don’t go remember what you told me I won’t be safe unless you are in the house to.”

“You will be ok and I’ll see you in the morning I promise and I gave Peter a big huge and walked through the door. As I walked out I could hear Adam locking the door behind me. I went down the steps and headed toads the grocery store I was prepared for the worst for when I was twelve I had told the cook that as soon as I was eight-teen to live outside I was going to kill all the vampires so once again she would be able to see the blue skies and fill the warmth of the sun on her face. I put my hand on the handle and walked in and I could feel the same thing that I did when it was daylight. But now I cannot run and hide in the sun when the big bad come out to taste my sweet blood.

The sky was much darker than I had ever remembered so I slowly walked toads the store when I was shoved ageist the building next to the grocery store. In an instant I drew my knife out of my shirt and turned around to face my attacker. It was a tall boy wearing bikers out fit and right before I swung to put the knife in his hart, but he grabbed my arm and just held it there for the longest moment. Then so ever carefully he took the knife out of my hand and drew it to my neck.

Hasn’t anyone told you, that you are supposed to stay indoors girl?

Yes but I’m not just any girl I’m the girl that is going to kill you and all of you that get in my way of finding my step-brother and killing him.

In that moment he tightened his grip but I keened him in the worst place for any boy and man did he go down. I took that opportunity to with drawl my other knife from my boot and this time I got his hart. Then just like in the movies he turned to dust and the wind swept his ashes away. By the time I got to the grocery store I was pumped up and ready for another fight. I was so happy to finally be able kill one vampire that I started to dance in the road just to test or see if any more was willing to come out and play with me. That’s when I heard the scream and I knew who that scream belonged to PEATER. I can’t believe he followed me after all I had told him to stay with Adam weir it was the safest. I ran as fast I could to the sound of the small child, when I had finally reached Peter he was surrounded by at least seven of them. The look on that pore boy could make your blood run ice cold I took my sword out of the sack on my back and started to swing it around and cut them down until I finally got to Peter.

“Peter are you ok and what were you thinking following me out hear when I had told you to stay with Adam”?

“I had to, if I dream about it then I have to have it come true because you have to meet someone his name is Danny and that is all I can tell you for now because there are more of those things coming for us.”
