When the Hammer Comes Down...

When the Hammer Comes Down...

A Poem by Dannyisawriter

When the hammer comes down
When you're buried in your death gown
When it all fades to black
There will be no going back

It's true our bodies aren't immortal
But our souls are surely eternal
No matter what there will be a curtain call
Nothing you do can stall

So where will you be?
There is only heaven or hell
Now is the time to choose where you will dwell
You won't want to just wait and see

Will you be standing at heaven's gates?
Or listening to the bells of hell?
We are the masters of our fates
So where will you dwell?

You did an excellent job with the rhyming in this poem. It flows really well, and the words you used(like immortal, eternal, and gown) really add to the appeal of the poem!

I enjoyed the rhyme structure, and the flow. The question posed is an important one. Well done.

This is definitely a good piece to spark the idea of how our actions will effect our eternal life...or death. Really good job on this one and I like it a lot!

Great poem and a very good question (one that I have often debated in my mind). I love the way you seem to get their hopes up high then shoot them down with the cruel reality that they have no choice but to face. Will try to check out more of your work when I find the time!

Only heaven and hell... no purgatory? That is where I think I may end up for eternity. This is a fantastic poem that leaves a great question. Thank you for sharing.
