The Man Who Never Lied

The Man Who Never Lied

A Poem by Dannyisawriter

I was the man who never told a lie
But when I said I was alright...
Well that was my first time
You may wonder why
It was because I didn't want to say bye
But I guess that was unavoidable
Yes I had never told you a lie
But I found it wasn't on you I could rely
Part of me is sorry
But I'm not alright
Since you changed that in a fortnight
And now it's too late
Maybe things would be different if I'd told the truth
Maybe we could have reached a truce...
I just don't know...

This is a good form, the line length is unusual for a rhymed poem, and the rhymes seem to be irregular, but as a poem it works well, which is the main thing.

I like to switch things up and try things different styles from the norm ;)
Sometimes pride gets in the way of the truth. Especially where there's love.
Really like this honest poem of yours. Well done.

You're welcome
It's easy to not lie when things are simple in life, but when things get complicated(such as relationships, family affairs, etc) THEN it gets hard to stay 100% truthful. This poem explained that concept perfectly, and is definitely a brilliantly written piece!

Thanks, I'm glad it worked for you :)
I don't know if we can never lie. But, the lie always cuts deep.

NOTES: I'd think about shortening the longer lines or breaking them into two lines.

Maybe say he was the man who tried never to tell a lie.
A good write, an a subject most can relate to well, I think.
I was a little bothered by the differences in length of the lines, but that was mostly because of the appearance.

This is a really well written poem, I have one suggestion: in the 5th line I would personally use goodbye, it sounds fine either why, just a personal preference. I really liked this one though!

This is a great poem. I think it is impossible to never lie. I hope everything works out for you!
