Personal Revolution

Personal Revolution

A Poem by Dannyisawriter

I’m standing on the edge of a personal revolution

And yes this is my resolution

These past two years I’ve worn a mask

Scared as crap of the things people may ask

Terrified of the things about me you may think

Because of this I’ve pushed myself to the brink

I’ve even told lies to conceal how I feel

So afraid of what may happen if you broke that seal

So here I declare no more lies

No more masks

It’s time for me to arise

And break this shell with a shotgun blast

This is very well written, although the rhyming at the end teeters off a bit. But a message that I'm sure many, including me, can relate to. However, I, unlike you, will probably never be able to take that mask off considering it has been what many people have known for the last 7 years.
Good job.

Moving declaration of purpose…

NOTES: The last line gives this a dark, violent twist of aggression I'm not sure you intended; "blast" doesn't really work well with "masks" for a rhyme either.
