If you were anyone else

I’d fight for you in a heart beat

If you were anyone else

I’d refuse to take a backseat

If you were anyone else

I’d not settle for feeling so incomplete

 

But you are you

And you have eyes for one who has eyes for you

You are you

And I can’t betray my friend

is that hear beat or heart beat, till the last line the poem had a flow , thought the last line could be expressed in a much better way , but overall i did liked it
