Dark Days and Darker Nights

Your home has gone to hell

As your marriage is a bust

It sure seems like to survive you’ll have to up your soul to sell

Because life is just not just

 

Work has got you on the edge of insanity

As it’s becoming more difficult to hold back that profanity

You say in God you trust

But boy is it becoming hard to get his flame to combust

 

Dark days and darker nights

Into your soul it seems to bite

As it seems you’re losing the fight

 

You may try to push me away

Use me as your punching bag

But I’ll still be here at the end of the day

Even if it is a drag

 

So I pray:

“God won’t you put your love on display

Bring light into her darkest time

And wipe away some of the grime.”

 

Dark days and darker nights

Into your heart it seems to bite
