Dear Younger Me

What would you tell your younger self if you got the chance?

Dear younger me:

I want you to know everything will be alright

Your world will never burn so bright

So don’t worry

You won’t need to carry all this beyond the cross

I know everything to you is so blurry

But God will conquer all your problems like a boss

And He’ll continue to expand your horizon

As you’ll continue to ever wizen

 

I wish you could’ve known

Your family’s issues didn’t have to sink you like a stone

You won’t be forever alone

As God will give you a makeshift family to compensate

You won’t need to cry yourself to sleep all on your own

I know everything looks so black and white

But before you know it, there will be an end to your plight

 

Everyone will hurt you

And you’ll want to blame yourself as we always do

But don’t grab that knife

I know you’ll feel dead inside

But you did nothing wrong and you have a right to life

Because you are allied to Christ as his bride

I wish I could save you from all the pain

But it’s through it all that we find so much to gain

 

There are so many happy memories to come

You’ll never again look so glum

And I can’t wait for you to meet our best friend

God will use her to change your life

Enough that it’s worth the time for this to be penned

I can’t lie to you though, there will always be strife

But with God always at your side

He’ll never cease to provide

 

Dear younger me, no more will you be alone

Because within you, His seed has been sown

A religious impulse akin to the phrase :whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. I am not one to even entertain the meaning but I think some of what you have wirtten points out to that passage and you are doing it in a very clear and honest way.
