Dear Pain

Dear Pain:

Aside from God, you are one of the most powerful forces

In our lives courses

You have the power to build and destroy

You have the power to annoy or even act as a decoy

You can create the most beautiful of things

Yet you can make the ugliest of kings

 

You are the most feared

As everyone wants you to disappear

You are by far the most hated

As you are constantly desecrated

 

But even something as powerful as you

Is subject to God’s rule too

You are but an instrument He can use

And it is written in His journal

That you are not eternal

The day will come

That you are done

And banished from our presence

As you will no longer be omnipresent

It's easy to forget that pain is only temporary. Thanks for reminding us.

One thing I really like about this poem is that you're acknowledging the power that pain has over people, but you're also saying that it's nothing compared to the will of God. You are almost laughing in its face, and so, you have the ability to push it away.

I like the message in this, pain can either break us or make us stronger in the Lord. I'm looking forward to the day when all of our burdens will be washed away forever and we won't feel any pain. The only thing that I stumbled on when reading was when you used "lives courses" I understand that you wanted to rhyme, it just doesn't sound like it fits there really, but that's my opinion.

Hehe, loved this poem. I an such a lil wuss, I am terrified of pain! I loved your line being subject to God's rule. Sometimes I wonder if pain is a tool used by god or the devil? Sometimes I wonder why some things happen the way they do and why some people have to endure so much pain. Well, I'm going off on a tangent but this was an awesome poem!

Thanks for the review! And I believe pain is a tool used by both God and the Devil. Because the Devil tries to use our fear of pain to hinder us from doing God's will while God will let us endure pain sometimes so that we will draw closer to him for comfort :-D
