Who Am I?

Who Am I?

A Poem by Dannyisawriter

Who am I

To ignore the child

Who cuts himself behind closed doors and never smiles?

When yet upon my very own arm I bear

The very same scars as theirs

Who am I

To walk right past the person

Whom no one talks to and their despair worsens?

When I used to be

The very same person with that very same plea

Who am I

To so selfishly not take the time

To make the climb and talk to that one person?

Who is thinking of taking their life this very night

When I too struggled with that very plight

Who am I to be oh so the hypocrite

When I was at one time the very same misfit?

What a powerful, raw, introspective piece.. This type of honesty is quite harsh sometimes especially when directed at ourselves.. I love everything about this piece. The flow, the construction, the message, and the way it made me think and FEEL... I have had my very own moments like this where I had to take a good, long hard look at myself and realize---I was being a hypocrite and the resulting shame in the epiphany.. Sometimes when we have had such a hard, painful life, it is hard to open up and let people in.. much less stop and take a good look at their situation and what plagues them.. It shows you have a big compassionate heart to be able to do this.. It took me a little while to get to this point.. IT is so much easier to keep everyone behind the wall and not open yourself up to caring anymore.. Going through life as the misfit and never really fitting in to reach out to someone else in that situation can be hard because you are so used to being alone... sometimes people just need us to take a deeper look and in helping them sometimes this can help us heal as well.. Very good write.. I thoroughly enjoyed...

I love this and I wish many others would ask themselves the same questions. All it takes is one person to show true care and understanding to make a huge difference in someones life. But, the majority of humans on this planet would rather not "get involved" with someone who is struggling because they see it as a burden. Great write!

You are welcome :)
I love how even when you are displaying so much emotion you CAN STILL MAKE IT RHYME! I can never rhyme and show my feelings. You are seriously talented

Oh my Danny, heavy as matter can be and it is that moment when you can see and it gets reflected back and before you start judging, well, how can one when I was right there or even I will be there becuase truly one never knows right? And it doesn't take a rocket scientist here although I am not a social butterfly at all there are some that when help is required I am always open to see if I can be of help.

This made me sit and pay attention

Thankyou
