Am I wrong?

For wanting to do my own thing

Am I wrong?

For wanting to be who God made me to be

Am I wrong?

For not wanting to follow in everyone else’s footsteps

 

God made me different from the rest

I’m not trying to say I’m the best

I’m just on a quest

God has a plan for me

He has something great for me to be

And I’m not about to flee

 

Am I wrong?

For wanting to make a difference in a way more unique

Am I wrong?

For wanting to reach for the things I can’t see

Am I wrong?

For wanting to go down the path God has set before me

Everyone wants me to be like them

They want me to conform to their ways

And they fuss at me for being me these days

Sometimes when I’m me I feel so condemned

 

Now am I wrong?

For not doing what everyone else is doing

Am I wrong?

For not giving into my peers

And am I wrong?

For being something that’s real

 

You can judge me all you want

I am doing nothing wrong

I’m walking down this road of mine all nonchalant

I am not afraid because God makes me strong

 

So yes I may be a flirt

Yes I may be blunt

If it bothers you then go on and desert

I am pulling no stunt

So tell me, am I wrong?

For going my own way to follow God

Am I wrong?

For not being afraid to appear flawed

And for not being a fraud

The repetition of am I wrong really stated what you were saying, and made a strong emotion there. This poem is a very well guided question, it shows that when everyone is ready to conform you will stay on the path god has set for you. Well done:)
