Behind the Wall

Behind the Wall

A Poem by Danny Coykendall

The sound of agony.

Drip venom off your tongue into my ear.

Hiss your painful lullaby to sooth the cutting words.

Defensive yet so very vulnerable.

Shatter my hollow core.

A transparent feeling of disgust.

Lost in a luminous self-glory.

Slowly repairing the wall that crumbled down.

Carve your love into my skin.

The blood painting a path to self repletion.

A vile grin of sadistic pleasure complements you.

Stitch me up and send me on my way.

I see through the pain and pity.

Hidden within the shell of your soul.

You cast your dread upon my innocence.

I morn for this once fragile being.
