The Eye of Your StormA Poem by Danny CoykendallI notice you in the distance. A crowded room of you and I. Worlds between our vessels. A glimpse of artistry I spy. The calm before the storm. How I've waited for this chance. You turn to me with delicacy. I am gifted with a glance. Our sight has locked us with no key in sight. I tremble upon such grace. Your look of confident wisdom. Has left me in deep space. Unable to breathe, I suffocate. My lungs fill with empty air. I struggle to remain myself. With your prodigious stare. The words I mean to speak have disappeared. The flame has engulfed my chest. I am left with only one breath. I shall leave out all the rest. On this day I have become something more. This fire has left me warm. From calm to hot, I know I was caught. In the eye of your storm.
