Some of us Look For Love

Some of us Look For Love

A Poem by Danny Russell
"

Love evades most of us. Some of us actually find it.

"

Some of Us Look For Love

Others?

Find pleasures against dark skies

And empty places.

Dark alleys and boisterous barrooms

The streets are littered with the dead.

Silence of the tombs.

Empty speech against the cold cobble stones;

Where has affection gone?

Cabaret echoes in empty minds

Men and women claw at each other,

Love mourns in the dark.

Child, child,

Where are you now?

I want mama.

Darling, I miss you.

I’m here.
