Blue House

Blue House

A Poem by Danny Russell
"

Glimpses into past sadness

"

Blue House

Damp streets

Clapboard houses

Lost children on empty streets

The tug of fear and loneliness

Wretched souls, the walking dead

Even fools are resurrected.

Mama!?

I can’t find my clothes.

Love lost on heartless streets

Rascal I miss you so!

Muffled sobs and all are deaf.

Dad, I need your help.

Silence and rage.

They’ve taken everything I have.

When’s the sun coming up dad?

Maybe never son.

Is this all? Is this all?

Nightmares are made of loneliness.

Staring down empty streets and into

Dim shops

Scarecrows propped against cluttered counters

Everything is damp.

The rain doesn’t stop.

They stole my car.

How am I going to get home?

Where is home?

YMCA

Staring out the window into lifeless streets

Only the beasts are out at night.

I’m coming home, sweetheart.

I’m coming home.
