The Singing of The Night/ The Divine Scientist.

The Singing of The Night/ The Divine Scientist.

A Poem by Danny Metcalfe

The Divine Scientist---the shamanic doctor, the sign of wealth to come!

Alpha et Omega. My eyes like a harp in the landscape of unheard music -

the voiceless dreams I once knew only in myth are now known in the mid-heaven of my sky…the sun-lit lamps like precious doves, sparkle and jeer upon the crown of my fortune,

before the brilliant vow of true Love’s dawn…

The codes of silence: the Eternal Sunset.

O palms! O sermons! The breath that ignites the air!

The sweat of my Soul falls from the sky!

              -----

On a quiet night, the new spring rises,

Greeting you with tender praise.

It is the love that deepens the senses,

The light that crowns your dreams,

The nightingale that sings on the surface

of your moon, smiling down at you.

Now the earth can’t hurt you. Your heart has settled upon the world,

Walking in hand and verse with the singing of the night.

Beautifully expressed in most poetic lines, with vivid imagery in your song of the night. Well worth the read. Thank you.

The whole poem, and especially the second part, seem to harken back to earlier ages. I am reminded of The Song of Songs, where the speaker addresses his love in such exalted terms.

A beautiful way to show us your song of the night with amazing images and very esoteric phrases....the divine scientist, the shamanic doctor; you explore the sky in a very unique way.; then you speak of light and. The touch of love. Really lovely Danny.

This piece was over the top in a fantastic poetic way. So creative and holds the reader close till the end they have been seeking arrives. Nicely done.

Another great poem. I've always found it much easier to read and write than critique, but this poem, like a lot of yours, is what I wish other people would write. I do still believe that you're poetry is on the level of someone who could make a living off writing. I may have trouble pointing things out at some time, but, that doesn't mean I can't applaud you for something I enjoyed reading. The imagery in your poetry, the abstract viewpoint, is something I look for, something I love to see, in my own work and others. As you say, symbols are what makeup poetry. I love that you stay true to that. You have far more to say when you're willing to spread your wings. Even if flying may push others away, we should not limit ourselves to a cage of poetry, but a world as vast as necessary, full and massive enough to fit all of our creativity, and more, for growth. Sky high.
