A Poem by Danny Metcalfe

Kraken up.
A Poem
There is great merit in having no depth,
no sense of true self
if you are born with such a thing
you have a great chance of going to the top
The irony is the truly great are left at the
bottom of the ocean
The world is a nervous wreck.
The world is a puzzle
can you hear the crosswords
from below the iceberg?
Clowns can be kind
but it is nothing but a jester
and people laugh nervously
because they don't understand
but there is a sea monster
born in the deep
who is Kraken up.

Bark.
A Poem

For Allen Ginsberg.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by wokeness,
starving emotionally nude,
roaming the streets at dawn for the next angry fix,
angelbrained lefties burning for the ancient Luciferian connection
to the starry sky in the machine of day,
while poverty and hollow-eyed politicians sat up smoking in the supernatural
darkness floating across cities contemplating totalitarianism,
What sphinx of concrete bashed open their skulls and ate their brains
and imagination? Children screaming under stairways! Boys sobbing and
old men weeping in the park
they pretend to be wolves but they do nothing but bark.

Unemployment.
A Poem

I wanted to write a poem about being unemployed,
but I just couldn't seem to get it to work.
So, I will just write one about how terrible the world is
and how we should have peace
or one about ill fated love.
So, I was on a date with a woman
at restaurant Karma,
she asked me to choose her meal
and I said you get what you deserve.
She was cross-eyed and told me she was a teacher,
but couldn't control her pupils.
She then told me she taught chemistry,
and I told her
I just don't really feel any reaction
towards her and left.
Like I said I wanted this to be about unemployment
but I just couldn't make it work.

Louder and Louder.
A poem.

I went to a poetry coffee shop
And asked for a Shakespeare latte,
They said they don’t do that here,
We’re a modern poetry café
And went onto tell me they only
Serve over emotional dribble.
So I ordered a slam poetry cappuccino which tasted very modern and for
Some reason I began to speak over emotionally
and my voice STARTED TO
GET LOUDER AND LOUDER
And everyone started to clap
Thinking I was reciting a poem.
