Youth in Exile.A Poem by Danny MetcalfeAgeless kiss. Her lips in the sand. Hurrah! Hurrah! The honesty of blood! O let it be that our torment be remembered and true knowledge be heard. God promised good and evil! Being loved is the adventure and time is an enjoyment traveled and never finished and so I shall stand in rage and gaze at the stars and see the passing storm transform me! That holy endless ride. I have visions in my passions, must I always dream of you? O sweet illumination! As big as flowers against the sky. This world is forgotten and I sit cheek to cheek with the sunny air, standing before the sunset in perfect existence. Yes, the charm of summer leads to the path of torment...the day has lifted! But not for long dare I say....in perfect time the music becomes more intense...and the mind is bewildered. I understand the soft burn of heartbreaks and the world stands still in my presence. I had a face so pale, I looked lost and aimless and eternity tore my heart open. Your heart beats through the night, and we go marching on. And no longer is my heart beneath you, sinking down into the blackness of death. A drunken sleep in a field under the starry night, waking with a darker mood in a brighter mind. © 2021 Danny Metcalfe |
