Snow White and The Big Apple

Snow White and The Big Apple

A Poem by DannyLynne Riley

There is one

I long for

more

than any other

my sweet le bete

my lover

is a city

exquisitely

displayed

dressed to the nines

within

her jeweled urban sprawl

she is the luv of my life

and the fairest of them all

as I gaze into

the brilliance

of her luminous

lamps

like pearls placed

on delicate

laces

threaded along

her sinuous streets.

I long to lay down with her

against the backdrop

of some dramatic musical score

and let her timeless rhythms

rock me to my core...

just to caress her lovely avenues

and scale her monumental heights

 through sleepless city nights

and in her dreams

are the blueprints

of my destiny

revealed

pressed

and sealed

between her golden pages

a census for the ageless

and I can clearly see

my opportunities

like fragile ornaments

cascading down

dangling from

her glorious realms

she is the apple of my eye

my most precious delight

and I, her damsel.

an urban snow white.

though some might long

for mountain songs

or mine

The silver linings

of the famous

as for me

I've but one plea

my pining

is for pavement
