Lonely Street Lamps and The Haunted Girl

Lonely Street Lamps and The Haunted Girl

A Poem by DannyLynne Riley

There is a sad girl

she haunts a dark bench

 and graces streetlamps

strung together like pearls

so cleverly placed

along the elegant neck

of wood

and pathways

illuminating dark

in a lighted park

this is where the night seems to find her

wrapped within  the delicate gossamer

veil of fog and gentle mist

cloaked within a kiss

of  epic tears and smiles

and a worn out heart

with too many miles

placed beside crystal goblets

collecting dust in a corner

as she moans with each swell

of moon and water

and wills him

to come..

come...

come..

oh please..

please..

come

only to be greeted

by silence  and night

and a million empty sighs

she hides

inside

that pretty Pandora's Box

of love and lonely

she should have kept locked

within

those walls

of all

the pretend she could muster

for you cant hold one without holding the other
